COVID AND NEW MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS
Due to the impact of the pandemic and subsequent rounds of gallery closures, we regret that we have suspended the annual membership application process until further notice.
Applications which have already been submitted are being held on file, and will be included when we look forward to re-opening applications and organising the selection process once again.
Usually, artists may apply to become academicians in November each year, when application forms and guidance information are available on the website.
Artists are invited to submit no more than 10 images on CD for consideration by members of the Council. If selected at this initial stage, artists will be invited to bring original works to be viewed at the following Annual General Meeting. All members present then vote on the work, with the artist requiring 50% of the vote to become an elected member.
There is no formal selection criteria, with artists being selected by peer review. There is a small administration charge which is non-refundable, unfortunately neither academicians or staff are able to give feedback.
