Albert William Ayling

1829-1905

One of the 'first thirty one' founder members of the RCA.  Born in Conwy, North Wales. A few sources state his date of birth as 1853. He exhibited 128 works at the Royal Academy. He produced a number of oil paintings, but the majority of his work was in watercolour. Many of his works featured rural farming scenes and landscapes, however he was also known to have painted several portraits and studied of people. He signed his work A.W. Ayling but rarely attributed a date and some were without a title.
