Louise Morgan

Elected to RCA in 2019

Working primarily from plein aire and memory, Louise is compelled to capture light and movement in the landscape. The constantly changing weather conditions in Gwynedd and Snowdonia, mean that she has to work rapidly, predominantly painting with palette knives outside and finishing the final piece in the studio, wiping areas out or defining certain areas by scraping off paint.

"I incorporate my personal feelings into a landscape, portrait and figure paintings. I add texture to obtain maximum depth, to give a 3 dimensional impression. Many of my works change in different light, and you can walk around the painting or feel that you could step into it. I like to incorporate jeopardy, movement and drama into my work."
