Alfred Burgess Sharrocks


Studied at Stockport School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. Exhibited regularly at the Royal Cambrian Academy and painted a great many landscapes of the Welsh hillsides. A. Burgess Sharrocks is probably best known for his book-covers and illustrations for the Secret Seven series by Enid Blyton. He also illustrated educational books about the natural world, especially in annuals.Died in Bangor, North Wales. Became associate member of the RCA in 1952 and full member in 1953. President of the RCA in 1962.
