Explore the spontaneity of brushwork using the techniques and materials of ink, watercolour and gouache on paper with this workshop which concentrates on the questions raised by paying close attention to the details in the tangible world around us, the products of our imagination and the inherent qualities of our gestures, marks and intervals between them.

Using various jumping off points, we will try different ways of response from the incidental to empathetic observation, from precision to the casual. Become immersed in the feeling involved in seeing to discover meaning and fluidity in your drawings and enjoy how they may relate to each other and surprise you.

The perfect workshop to explore and experiment with an abstract style, guided by a friendly and experienced tutor.

Paper, ink, sumi ink and brushes will be provided.

The participants are welcome to bring their own paper, brushes (for water based media), watercolour palette and/or gouache.

They may want to wear a darker or less precious top as ink can leave a permanent mark on many clothing textiles.
