What to Expect:
- Hands-On-learning: produce an A4 egg tempera painting on a pre-prepared gesso board.
- Interactive Session: learn about the history of egg tempera painting. Full guidance given on supports, selecting an image, under-drawing and approaches to starting, adjusting and finishing your painting
- Comprehensive materials: gain access to a variety of high-quality art supplies and learn about the unique qualities of a wide range of pure raw pigments. Prepare your own paint leaning about binders, supports, mediums, glazes and varnishes.
Who Can Attend?
- No Previous Experience Required: Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, this workshop welcomes everyone.
- Materials Provided: All necessary materials will be supplied but if you have synthetic sable paint brushes you're welcome to bring them with you.
About the artist:
Susan Liggett has extensive teaching experience and a deep understanding of painting. She first learned how to make egg tempera paint whilst a student at a Royal Academy and have been working with it for almost 30 years.
She has a PhD from the University of Wales, a Post Graduate Diploma in Painting (MA) from The Royal Academy Schools, and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University.
She became a visiting Professor in Fine Art at Wrexham University in 2024 and now paints full time.
She has been a RCA member since 2018.
