ELECTED IN 2016
Originally from Yorkshire, David Brightmore studied Business
Management in Cardiff and Fine Art in Sheffield. He has lived in
Snowdonia from 1985 until 2004 and learned the Welsh language. He now
lives in Mold, close to the Clwydian range.
"I have run and walked most of the mountains and hills here and
though my landscape paintings and drawings are rarely specific to one
recognisable place, they endeavour to express certain essential
dramatic and lyrical qualities of the North Wales environment. A full-time painter since 2000, I am told that my work, much in
mixed media, is vibrant and energetic. It involves a searching for
the rhythms of land and figure, a theme which I developed in my MA
Fine Art course at Glyndwr University in 2011. I have exhibited in galleries and Art Fairs throughout the UK."
