ELECTED IN 2016
David Jones draws on his imagination, dreams and childhood memories to create a world of linocut images and sculptures that are designed to intrigue and to entertain. For inspiration he looks to the worlds of folk art and outsider art.
In 1988 he helped set up Raw Vision, a magazine promoting the understanding of outsider art: the obsessive power of the art of the insane.
Born in 1939, David studied at Liverpool College of Art. He has worked as a self-employed graphic artist since 1962, based in London, then in Japan in the mid-1960s, and now at his home in Beaumaris on Anglesey.
He was Senior Lecturer, Central Saint Martins 1978-2005 and External Examiner at the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin and L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
David has recently completed commissions in public art and book illustration. He is also a semi-pro jazz saxophonist.
