ELECTED IN 2015
Born in Castleford, West Yorkshire in 1954, Graham Cox gained an MA in Fine Art and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Manchester University.
Between 1980-2006 he worked as a senior lecturer in Fine Art and was Deputy Head of School for Arts and Science. He has lived and worked in Wales for more than forty years, drawing upon the local landscape for inspiration.
Graham has exhibited at the John Moores Painting Prize; MOMA, Machynlleth; and The Upfront Gallery, Cumbria. His work can be found in galleries and private collections in Britain and abroad.
"My work is
informed both by the landscape and the process of painting. The
images that I excavate from the canvas exist nowhere else other than
within the rectangle in which they are held. I paint in order to
interpret and document fragments of memory and experience and to make
the transient permanent."
