James Guy Eccleston

My work is predominately about the observation of the world and painting and drawing the truth and beauty that I see. I work realistically using traditional techniques with oils and acrylics.

I was fortunate to be mentored by Robert Lenkiewicz after my Fine Art degree which gave me an invaluable understanding of colour and form and an approach and palette that I have used and taught since.

My favoured subjects are still life objects that are mostly mundane and over looked, fabrics and soft toys predominately found in charity shops that I then use to create portraits and narratives. I aim to enliven the subjects and enhance their colours.”

James has won the Gulbenkian Welsh Art Prize and regularly exhibits at Ffin y Parc
