Born in 1938 Edmonton, London, Malcolm Ryan lived in East Anglia for 30 years, and in Ceredigion, Wales since 1998.
"A child of the 1940s, I worked in the Soho district until age 30 in a graphic design studio. Within walking distance of all of the great galleries, and commercial galleries of Bond Street, my self education.
A serious painter from my early 20s. I began as an abstract painter and was elected to the Artists International Association, then moved into experimental figurative work, finding my subject and style which is mainly of people in modern settings done in a realistic manner. An attempt to record present day ordinary life. Exhibited at Royal Academy, Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge and numerous public museums/galleries."
