ELECTED IN 2016
Born in Hoddeston, Hertfordshire, Mick Brown attended Bya Shaw School of Art and then Cardiff Art College.
"My paintings are an essential part of my life. They are a dialogue with the world, both spiritual and material, past and present.
They document my feelings and thoughts of being part of an ever-changing and transforming earth, exploring the role which individuals and societies play within it.
For me, the process of painting is a conversation, with narrative elements which evolve throughout the process. This is reflected in my work through elements of colour, mark, surface and texture. Much of the time the title gives a starting point, allowing the viewer to embark on a dialogue with the work and inviting personal reflection and interpretation."
