Elected in 2026
Nick Elphick studied Fine Art Sculpture at Loughborough University and is a British sculptor based in North Wales. Working primarily in bronze and mixed media, his practice spans portraiture, figurative sculpture, public commissions and heritage restoration.
His work combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary figurative expression, exploring identity, resilience and the emotional presence held within the human form. Alongside private portraiture, his practice has developed across large-scale public sculpture, gallery exhibitions and broadcast media.
Elphick’s work has gained national recognition through BBC One’s Extraordinary Portraits, where he has contributed across multiple series creating sculptural works exploring deeply personal and socially significant narratives. Recent commissions include Empathetic Protection, the portrait sculpture of Darryn Frost, and A Python on the Prom, the public monument celebrating Terry Jones unveiled in Colwyn Bay in 2026.
Over the course of his career, Elphick has produced work connected to internationally recognised figures and institutions including Jean Paul Gaultier, Damien Hirst, Cartier and the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. In 2026, he was elected a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art.
