Community Projects
At the Royal Cambrian Academy we are very proud to work closely with our local community
Recently we’ve enjoyed working with students from Ysgol Glan Gele, Ysgol Elfod and young families from Abergele's Creating Enterprise on art projects connected to the TV series I’m a Celebrity being filmed nearby.
For the past two years we have been working with members of Conwy Connect, a support group who promote the rights of people with a learning disability, living in North Wales. During lockdown we created Art In a Bag workshops which helped participants to continue being creative from home. The group has become an integral part of the gallery, and have had two exhibitions with us.
We were pleased to be invited to create sensory parcels for a wonderful company called Making Sense. The service aims to provide stimulating activities for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, to create with their support staff.
During the year we create a gallery space to display work created in the community. Some of the exhibitions have included work by architect students from Huddersfield University, North Wales Photography Association and a Manga portrait competition for young people.
