‘There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story’
Beatrix Potter

The first hour will cover Sharon’s own journey into writing, with a supportive PowerPoint to show her journey from the embryonic stages of building ideas right through to publication.

The second hour will explain the literary techniques involved in weaving together a plot, setting and character, enabling participants to sharpen their writing skills whether they are just starting out or have been dabbling in writing for years.

Participants should bring a pad and pen as they will be encouraged to have a go at drafting some of their own ideas and thoughts and sharing them with others in the group if they wish.

Sharon taught English Language and English Literature for many years in secondary schools in North Wales, Chester and Liverpool before retiring and writing her first novel. She has been running creative writing workshops since in libraries, bookshops and galleries, inspiring those who lack confidence to have a go at sharing their story.
