CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP WITH MARY THOMAS

An hands-on workshop where you'll be introduced to one of the first forms of photography, a process discovered in 1842 that creates blue prints using sun power and UV light.

All materials will be provided and no experience is necessary.

Saturday 22nd March 2025 | 11am-4pm | Fee £65 | Booking is essential

Event Dates
22/03/25 - 22/03/25

What to Expect:

  • Learn a new technique: most cyanotype printing creates a negative photographic image on a blue surface where the shadow of the objects placed on the surface is captured by the sun light. The name cyanotype derives from the Ancient Greek words for "dark blue" and "type/mark".
  • Hands-On-learning: you'll be introduced to different techniques such as Cyanotype and Cyanolumen and you'll use different toners to effect colour change in your print.
  • Interactive Session: learn about the history this camera-less photographic process and create your own one-of-a-kind prints. Full guidance given by our experienced tutor Mary Thomas. The workshop aims to deepen your understanding of the Cyanotype Photo process and enhance your skills through hands-on-practice and expert guidance.
  • Comprehensive materials: Mary will provide UV lamps and pre-prepared light sensitive surfaces.

Who Can Attend?

  • No Previous Experience Required: Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, this workshop welcomes everyone.
  • Materials Provided: All necessary materials will be supplied.
