What is needle felting?
It is the process of transforming wool into a solid 3D felted object using a special barbed needle which allows the fibres of the wool to tightly knit together. It is a fun and relaxing process, but it does take concentration as the needles are very sharp!

Understanding the head and proportions. Basics of sculptural needle felting. How to break down the face into simple shapes for felting purposes

Construction of the face, concentrating on nose, mouth and eyes using needle felting.

Construction of ears and how to shape the head. How to blend and contour around features. Smoothing and finishing techniques

About Deanne Doddington Mizen RCA
Based in Bethesda, North Wales, Deanne has been a professional artist since 2006, following the completion of her Fine Art degree at De Montfort University. Her works are held in private collections across the UK and abroad and she exhibits regularly throughout Wales.
