Painting on a large scale can be a daunting endeavour. And where to begin?

If you’ve ever wanted to paint on a larger scale but have lacked the confidence or understanding then this class will give you the tools to know how to get started, what to manage and how to carry it off.

Painting on a large scale is easier than painting small, hard to believe but very true if you know the process.

Medium used: acrylic paint.

Who can attend?

No previous experience is necessary

What do you need to bring?

A board or wood panel just a little larger than A1 size (85cm by 62cm) or alternatively a larger that A1 size canvas, stable and stretched onto a frame

3x sheets of A1 paper coated with Emulsion paint on one side

4 brushes no smaller than size 10

You can also bring in house painting brushes if you have any

Easels will be provided and facility for washing your brushes afterwards

About the artist:

Debbie Baxter is based in Dolwyddelan, North Wales where she has been creatively working her way along the waterways of the LLedr Valley. She paints with acrylic on wood panel and can often be seen ‘en plein air’ standing on a rock in the middle of a river, palette and fortitude in hand. Debbie has been showcased on BBC Countryfile, exhibited in the US Embassy London, Brunswick Gallery London, The Saffron Walden Gallery, Oriel Gery Fenai, Oriel Glasfryn, Artworks2celf, Wandlebury Country Par, Grand Arcade, Cambridge.

Winner of the Galeria Moderna London Prize 2023.

An associate member of the RCA and a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society.
