GERRY BALL

ELECTED IN 1978

Born Ashton-Under-Lyne in 1948, Gerry Ball lives in Ceredigion.

"I have painted for a living since 1976. I paint within a fairly small radius of where I live. The subject matter falls into aspects of the rural scene, broad landscapes, the weather, farm buildings, interiors of barns and what has been left in them.

The light is the greatest single influence. Altering shapes and colours on the one hand, providing the very reason for the choice of subject on the other. The speed at which the light moves and changes is a constant surprise, lending urgency or frustration to the work, or both. Traditional methods of the watercolour medium are an important aspect of my work."

Gerry has exhibited at: Oriel Tegfryn, Menai Bridge; Bourne Gallery, Reigate; Neville Fine Art, Farnham; Thomas Agnew, Old Bond St; Catto Gallery, Hampstead; Richard Hagen, Broadway; Albany Gallery, Cardiff; St Davids Hall, Cardiff.
