Elected Associate Member 2024; Full Member 2026
Judith was born in England and lived in various parts of Africa during her early years. She graduated in Fine Art at the West of England College of Art, Bristol.
She moved to Wales and after a career in teaching art, her art practice today is built around printmaking, although her love of drawing and watercolour painting is often evident in her work.
She has used combinations of media, like printmaking with watercolour, to design greetings cards and book covers which have been published by established platforms and companies in England and Wales. Her graphics and logos have given an identity to several community groups.
She joined Swansea Print Workshop (SPW) at its very beginning and has worked with all of SPW’s printmaking processes over the years, but she has always returned to the versatility of relief printing. This is how she develops all her printmaking ideas now.
Finding connections with old and new is often a starting point. She is inspired by her own memories, traces of former lives, and the discovery of abandoned and forgotten corners in both the built environment and in the natural landscape of Wales.
Judith is a director of SPW and has worked as a volunteer to teach groups and support many activities over the years.
She has taught on a more formal basis a few times, and in 2023 was appointed one of the lead artists for the first “MiniPrint Cymru” project.
