Elected Associate Member 2024; Full Member 2026
Judith Stroud was born in England and lived in Africa during her early years. She graduated in Fine Art at the West of England College of Art, Bristol.
She moved to Wales and after a career in teaching art, her art practice today is built around printmaking, although her love of drawing and watercolour painting is often evident in her work.
She has designed logos, graphics and book covers which have been published by established platforms and companies in England and Wales.
She joined Swansea Print Workshop (SPW) at its very beginning and has worked with every printmaking process over the years, but the versatility of relief printing is the basis for all her printmaking ideas now.
Inspirations can be memories and traces of the past, and finding connections with old and new. Abandoned and forgotten haunts, hidden and secret places, give a focus for the changing seasons in nature, the shifting edge between land and sea, light and dark, reality and dreams.
Judith is a director of SPW and has worked as a volunteer to teach groups and support many activities. In 2023 she was appointed one of the lead artists for the first “MiniPrint Cymru” project, which brings together printmakers across Wales and beyond.
