Ronnie Drillsma

Ronnie was introduced to the idea of Mark-Making whilst studying Children’s Book Illustration. It was the variety of found tools, and the unique marks created that fired her imagination. From there, her passion for Collage began, and she has continued to explore the methods and techniques that create her unique mark making ever since.

Ronnie lived and worked in North Wales for thirty years, before moving over to the Wirral in 2022 . As a Tutor, she taught Drawing & Painting Courses in the Community. She enjoyed the opportunity to inspire students through discovery and experimentation, as she herself had done, using mixed media techniques.

The Welsh landscape has now been replaced by a new coastline, and Ronnie is enjoying the creative challenge. She combines thin layers of organic patterned collage papers, with acrylic paint. The marks she started out making many years ago, inspired by the rugged textural landscape of Wales, have now formed a vital part of her process.

“Having studied Illustration, I enjoy creating and working with pattern and will use whatever materials/ tools I find lying around in order to initiate abstract, organic marks into my creative language. The Beauty of Nature offers endless inspiration, I take great delight in creating unique, intriguing marks that will do it justice
