ELECTED IN 2016
Born in Glasgow in 1962, Susan Gathercole graduated in Fine Art from Liverpool in 1984. She has lived near Llanberis for over 30 years, and works from a small studio in the back garden, overlooking the trees towards the mountains.
"The things I paint - household jugs, mugs and bowls, birds, sea shells, flowers, fruit, feathers and fabric - all possess a special, meaningful power for me.
I feel strongly and intuitively about colour. The figures in my work are conduits for my observations of the natural world, friendships, imaginings, feelings, dreams and memories."
