    Volunteer

As a flourishing arts organisation, the Royal Cambrian Academy views its work with volunteers as an invaluable part of its work supporting artists throughout Wales.

Since my recent retirement, I have really enjoyed volunteering at the RCA. It’s great to work in such a beautiful environment and the gallery staff are very warm and welcoming. I meet lots of people and there’s always something new to learn from both artists and the general public.
No two days are the same as I do a variety of jobs to support the busy programme of exhibitions and workshops, so it’s both stimulating and rewarding. I’d certainly recommend it to anyone with time to spare and an interest in art.

All its volunteers, Academicians and staff work together to create a year round programme of exhibitions, workshops and events, and you could be part of it.

    Volunteering can offer so much:

    • A rewarding sense of being part of something you consider worth while
    • Invaluable work experience
    • An insight 'behind the scenes' of Wales’ largest artist collective
    • Contact with some of Wales' leading artists
    • Working with a friendly, welcoming group of people

Volunteering is the most rewarding thing. As a Volunteer at the RCA, you are able to indulge your passion and enthusiasm for the arts, whilst keeping the beating heart of the Academy going.
Volunteers are the bridge between the organization and the general public. Volunteering with exhibitions or events means interaction between the artists and their audience and this in turn may bring new opportunities to gain wider horizons and new friendships.
I have just started volunteering on a Saturday afternoon in the upstairs gallery. I have met so many interesting people and helped them look at the works of art, in maybe, a different way. They have added to my knowledge too, with information that so often surprises me! And then I pass that on to the next people I chat to. I love it!!
