Introduction to still life oil painting with Daniel J Yeomans RCA

An incredible opportunity to explore oil painting with Daniel Yeomans and learn how to paint your own still life

    Event Dates
    12/08/23 - 12/08/23

    Lleoliad
    Royal Cambrian Academy, Conwy

You will be guided through the process of oil painting your still life artwork alongside Daniel. You will talk and learn about set up and lighting, how to make sure your paintings don’t crack, how to use colour and chiaroscuro to create a composition and how to evaluate and adjust your paintings as you go. The aim will be to paint a simple still life during the day that will prepare you to try on your own at home.

All levels are welcome. It would be an advantage if you have used/experimented with oils before, but not essential.

Easels, painting medium and oil paints will be provided, as well as props for the still life.

The student will need to bring their own:

brushes, 1 canvas, palette, palette knife (ideally)

If they prefer, students are welcome to also bring their own oil paints and a quality Alkyd painting medium, to ease the flow of the session.

The colours needed will be: white, yellow cad light, cad medium, red cad, cerulean blue, ultra-marine deep blue, ivory black. Optional: deep lake and crimson red for pinks.

Note: It will be possible to clean the brushes after the lesson.
