ELECTED IN 1992
David Williams-Ellis is internationally celebrated as one of the
world’s leading sculptors whose commissions have brought him
international acclaim. David works primarily in clay before casting
in bronze, silver or glass. David has exhibited around the world as
well as working on both public and private commissions.
On 6th June
2019 David’s biggest project to date, the D-Day Sculpture, was
unveiled in Normandy above Gold beach by the President of France and
the Prime Minister. The piece of work was physically and emotionally
challenging, both in scale and because of its importance. The
experience of Normandy has reaffirmed to David the importance of the
relationship between his work and the viewer.
Going forward David intends to continue to use movement, energy and poise to achieve dynamic and thoughtful works and compositions. He has put this into practice during lockdown whilst sculpting a twice lifesize sculpture for a private commission.
