"For some reason I find it difficult to talk about my painting. For as long as I can remember I have always done what my family called " gwneud lluniau", making pictures. Basically this what I still do.
I go out, I sketch, come home, go to my studio (the cwt) and paint using the sketches and my memory as references. For many years I painted entirely out doors in front of the subject but seldom do that any more.
The works are about mood or effect created by weather, season, or time of day. Topography provides the bare bones of a painting. My people paintings sometimes reflect my thoughts on a changing Wales. The subject dictates how it should be painted. I suppose I am some kind of an impressionist but I really don't know! "
