Born in Llanuwchllyn near Bala, 1936. he studied sculpture at Liverpool College of Art.
John Meirion Morris’ work could be divided into two types. The first of these is his representational work expressed in a series of powerful heads ranging from poet Gwenallt to Lord Hooson. These compelling heads are worked in the tradition of Rodin and Epstein. The second type is symbolic and arthetypal in nature, he draws on his own inner images and connects them with images and forms of early Celtic art, especially from the La Tene period.
