Born near Barnsley, Yorkshire 1938, Julia Jones attended UCW
Aberystwyth, going on to teach biology for several years. She moved to Anglesey in 1974, studying Foundation Art in Bangor
1988-89 with Peter Prendergast. In 1997, she was invited by Kyffin
Williams to take part in a masterclass for ITV.
Julia's work is held in
the National Library of Wales and Hotels in Wales Art collections.
She has exhibited with the North Wales Society Fine Art, Oriel Ynys
Mon, Royal Cambrian Academy, National Eisteddfod of Wales, Royal
Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Westminster Gallery, Linnaean
Society, Albany Gallery, Cardiff and Gorstella Gallery,
Chester.
“From an early age I have loved drawing and painting.
Light and the effect it has on landscape and on the familiar objects
which surround me at home has always caught my attention. I sketch in
pencil and watercolour but most of my finished paintings are in
acrylic, a medium I find very versatile.”
