Elected to RCA in 1989
Born in Rochdale in 1930, Maurice Greenwood originally trained in technical drawing and draughtsmanship, moving to North Wales in 1960. During the 1980s, he taught Art and Design for Llandrillo College, The University of Wales.
"I have exhibited nationally in Wales and across the United Kingdom, with work in private and public collections both nationally and internationally.
My method of working has always been from direct observation of the subject, originally I would paint on site, but now I tend to draw with soft pencil or ink then add the various tones within the drawing. I am not trying to give a photographic accuracy, but to pass onto the viewer, my feelings and emotions of the subject."
