Born in Anglesey, Mike Murray is a Cardiff-based artist and teaches in Swansea College of Further Education.
Murray works solely with discarded objects, and takes a hobbyist's aproach to materials and techniques. His seemingly chaotic assemblages are often associated with areas or themes of personal significance. More recently, Murray has refined this limitation further by only using materials found and built within the vicinity – making clearer references to place rather than space. In thisway of working, objects are reinvented to create ambiguous interpretations.
