Pea is an Abergele-based artist with a practice that explores art as a connection to materials and personal and cultural storytelling. Working widely across sculpture, drawing/painting, ceramics, text/poetry, performance, and installation, Pea creates images and 3d forms which narrate her personal histories and insights, and investigates how imagery communicates cultural identities.
She often integrates the vehicle of the altered human form, considering- what makes us appear human, and which features of the body are important to express gesture/emotion/attitude?
Pea has an MA in ceramics, an MA in Artists books/communication and a BA in illustration. She exhibits work in galleries throughout the UK, and iInternationally, exhibiting in Gaudi’s Casa Battlo in Barcelona in 2014, The Santorini Biennale (Greece) 2012 (with assistance from the Arts Council of Wales) and was awarded joint 1st prize at The Royal Cambrian Academy Open (Conwy) January 2014 for an installation piece, Mother Mary Chess set.
