The exhibition opens at The Garrison Chapel, Chelsea Barracks in central London on February 25th, with a private viewing on February 24th. Following its London showing, the exhibition will transfer to The Waterfront Gallery in Milford Haven, Wales, where it will remain on display until mid-May.
Dr. Gant, who was elected to the RCA in 2021 and formerly served as Head of Fine Art at Liverpool School of Art (2000-2010), creates work centered on drawing that informs his specialisms in sculpture and contextual study. His current artistic focus explores coastal geology, incorporating structure, color, and tonal palettes from sediments and outcrops into his compositions.
The selected artwork was previously exhibited in the RCA Members Winter Exhibition and now forms part of this international competition which features a prize fund totaling £15,000. Winners will be announced on St. David's Day, March 1st.
Wales Contemporary, now in its fifth year, was developed in 2019 by the Waterfront Gallery with support from the Welsh Government and the Port of Milford Haven. The competition provides artists with the valuable opportunity to exhibit their work in both London and Wales.
We extend our congratulations to Richard on this significant achievement and recognition of his artistic excellence.
