    Join us for a oil painting self-portraiture class with Roman Nedopaka

    Together with Roman, you will paint a self-portrait in oil. You will receive guidance through each stage, from initial sketch to the final rendering. You will learn the basic principles of depicting shapes in a stream of light, composition, colour combination, texture and more.

    All levels are welcome. It would be an advantage if you have used/experimented with oils before, but not essential.

    Easels will be provided.

    Students will need to bring a good quality photo (ideally printed on А4 or on an electronic device) and a standard set of art materials: canvas, brushes, painting medium, palette, palette knife.

    Students will need a standard set of art materials:

    1. Medium-sized canvas or primed cardboard for oil painting (16x20 inches / 40x50 cm)
    2. A simple set of oil paints: titanium white, ivory black, burnt umber, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, crimson red, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, sap green (olive green)
    3. Brushes
    4. Painting medium
    5. Palette
    6. Palette knife

    About the artist:

    Roman Nedopaka is a professional painter from Ukraine. He studied easel painting at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. He held many exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. Due to the war in Ukraine, he and his family are living and working in Wales.
