"The paintings are a juxtaposition of familiar objects and human figures at an instant in time and at a particular place. The locations are invariably western coastal seen from a particular geographical direction. They are of an abstract composition where the mood is set by the inherent light and colour. They are designed to generate a particular atmosphere. They are meticulously structured and measured to achieve a well balanced image. The aim is that they become a monumental and profound statement about the ordinariness of things."
